I strongly support the Equal Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution as the 28th Amendment which reads:

Section One: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the
United States or by any state on account of sex.

Section Two: The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation,
the provisions of this article.

The ERA passed Congress with the needed 2/3rd vote of the United States House and Senate as well as the legislatures of the needed 38 states.

Congress must immediately recognize the Equal Rights Amendment and pass the following United States House and Senate resolutions:

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, that notwithstanding any time limit contained in House Joint Resolution 208, 92nd Congress, as agreed to in the Senate on March 22, 1972, the article of amendment proposed to the States in that joint resolution is valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution, having been ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States.

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) prohibits the denial of equal rights on the basis of
sex as one of our foundational constitutional principles.

About the Equal Rights Amendment

In January 2025, President Biden issued a strong statement declaring that the Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified and is the law of the land, having met both requirements of Article V with the vote of 2/3of Congress and ratification by 3/4 of the state legislatures.

Now is the time for Congress to officially affirm ratification and put aside any questions about an arbitrary timeline as states continue to enforce the ERA and as judges interpret it.

Equal rights protections under the Constitution are needed now more than ever.

The Equal Rights Amendment ensures equality of rights under the law for all people.

The combination of Section One and Section Two will work to end sex discrimination and provide a safety net to protect the hard-fought rights won over the last 50 years.

Since the Dobbs decision, extremist judges on the Supreme Court and lower federal courts have been setting the stage for reversing laws and policies that have helped to end gender discrimination.

The ERA provides guardrails and a safety net to prevent Dobbs from becoming a springboard to other issues and a guarantee that Congress can pass laws, including restoring abortion rights, that will work to end sex discrimination.

From biases in social security and unequal wages to pink taxes, numerous laws and practices are still outdated and cause gender discrimination.

An orderly, systematic review of federal and state laws is needed to end sex discrimination with the protection and full force of the Constitution.
